Front of House (Part-Time, 20 hrs per week)

Location: The Mendicity Institution, 9 Island Street, Dublin 8 

Rate: €16.50 per hour

The Mendicity Institution, established in 1818, is Dublin’s oldest working charity. Last year, we served over 50,000 meals and supported more than 2,000 people experiencing homelessness and marginalisation.

We are recruiting a Front of House team member for our open-access Food and Day Service. You’ll be our first point of contact—offering a warm welcome, providing information and support, and helping service users feel safe, respected, and connected.

What’s on offer:

• 20 hours per week (scheduled within service hours: Mon–Fri 8.30am–8.30pm; Sun 9.30am–8.30pm) Service hours are subject to change
• €16.50 per hour
• 21 days annual leave (pro rata)
• Subject to Garda vetting and funding

What you’ll do:

• Greet and support service users with empathy and professionalism
• Share information on services offered by Mendicity and partner organisations
• Help maintain a welcoming, calm, and safe environment
• Assist with daily operations and administrative reporting

Who you are:

• Friendly, approachable, and compassionate under pressure
• Strong communicator with confident IT skills
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness, unemployment, or mental health issues
