FamiliBase are seeking to recruit a full time Child and Family Worker
1 Year Contract (Maternity Cover)

Building Safer Communities, launched in partnership between Familibase and Dublin City Council in March 2025.The programme was developed to address complex social issues at a community level for families living in Cherry Orchard where there are concerns in relation to Housing and Estate management.

FamiliBase is a centre for children, young people and families based in Dublin 10. FamiliBase has three strands of service delivery i.e. Early Years and Afterschool, Child and Family and Youth and Community. FamiliBase operates an integrated model of practice. Programme delivery in FamiliBase occurs at different levels i.e. from universal level to intensive wrap around for those with multiple or more complex needs. FamiliBase could be described as a ‘one stop shop’ of supports for children, young people and families.

Please note as lone working is an essential part of the role, full clean driving licence and access to own car is essential.


Job Description

The Child and Family Worker will work with a case load of families living in Cherry Orchard where there are concerns in relation to Housing and Estate management. The Child and Family Worker will carry out a strength and needs based assessment for each family with a particular focus on Health, Housing and Wellbeing supports. In addition to this the case worker will work alongside families to support these four other key areas

  • Early Years, Educational and Employment Supports
  • Parenting Supports
  • Social and Emotional Supports
  • Safety and Welfare Supports

Essential Criteria

  • A relevant qualification e.g. minimum Level 7 in Social Care, Community Development, Early Childhood Care and Education, Social Work, Youth Work or relevant discipline.
  • Post qualification experience of working directly with families with complex needs impacted by parental substance use, parental mental health, domestic violence, housing need ect.
  • Understanding and experience of planning and delivering programmes in a community context of parental mental health and substance misuse in particular evidence-based parenting programmes and attachment and resilience-based programmes for children and young people.
  • Experience of lone working with children and young people and adults in a community context.
  • Trauma informed practice in designing and facilitating targeted programmes for children, young people and families.
  • Experience of working with and responding effectively to childhood trauma and trauma responses.
  • High levels of confidence and excellent relationship management skills.
  • A high level of ICT literacy including a proven ability to apply technology in the workplace.
  • High ethical standards with strong integrity.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

HSE Social Care Worker scale. Point allocated will be dependent on experience. Note: position available from end of October 2025
