Riverview, part of Good Shepherd Cork in partnership with Tusla, are developing our existing service and seeking to recruit the following personnel to join its Children’s Residential Centre:

  • 2 Permanent Full Time Social Care Workers
  • 1 Permanent Part time Social Care Worker
  • 1 Permanent Full Time Social Care Leader
  • Relief Social Care Worker

Riverview provides accommodation and support for young girls (16-18 years) who are out of home or transitioning from another care settings. It provides a high standard of care and support in accordance with evidence based best practice, in a manner that ensures each young person’s safety and wellbeing and enables them to access the supports and interventions necessary to address the circumstances of their admission to the Centre. We aspire to provide them with the opportunities to prepare themselves for the transition from care, to move to a less supported living environment and the responsibilities that come with leaving care and adulthood. This is achieved through a supportive, nurturing and holistic environment that promotes wellbeing, safety, rights, education and community involvement

The successful candidate will care for, protect and support our young people in conjunction with the wider staff team, family and other professionals involved. They will work from a child-centered approach and contribute to the planning and evaluation of individualised care plans. Within the residential centre, the Social Care Worker will work as part of a team to provide a caring, warm, nurturing and safe environment for young people.

Full-time permanent positions will involve working 39 h/pw.

Flexibility will be required around working hours which will incorporate both weekday and weekend shifts as well as sleepover/night shifts.

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised professional qualification in social care (minimum Level 7).
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people.
  • Professional and caring approach to working with vulnerable young girls.

The candidate should be compassionate and highly motivated. They should possess the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish a trusting relationship with young people.

The successful candidate will be committed to the ethos and mission of Good Shepherd Cork and will be expected to ensure that all aspects of practice in Riverview are informed by the ethos and mission.
