Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Service Manager Employability Kilkenny/Carlow
Key Working relationships: Service Manager, Employability Team, Clients, Employers, Board of Directors, Funders & other stakeholders.
KCASES CLG trades as EmployAbility Kilkenny/Carlow and is a Supported Employment Service which works with job applicants and employers to increase the participation of those with a disability or health condition into employment. The company is funded by the Department of Social Protection (DSP). We currently have an initial 12-month Fixed Term Contract position for a Job Coach in our Kilkenny Office, subject to programme funding from the Department of Social Protection.
Person Specification:
The candidate is required to be proactive, be capable of working on their own initiative and as part of a team. Possess a practical approach to work, good communication skills and have an ability to troubleshoot.
- Relevant Third Level Qualification is a distinct advantage in; Adult Guidance / Business / Recruitment / Sales / Marketing / Social Studies related studies.
- Experience in the field of Disability, HR, Sales & Marketing or other relevant experience.
- Experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable however the ability to communicate, with job seekers with disabilities and their families is essential.
- Have a high level of empathy and understanding of the challenges experienced by people with disabilities seeking employment.
- Ability to show sensitivity towards job seekers needs and empower them to succeed in the workplace.
- Excellent Sales, PR, Marketing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to be innovative and resourceful.
- Some Experience of using recruitment and employment principles, methods, techniques, and resources.
- Some knowledge of the Social Welfare System
- Some Knowledge of employment legislation.
- Excellent IT skills to include the use of Microsoft Office, and other technologies through desktop sites via computer and remotely through mobile applications is essential.
- Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.
- Garda Vetting will be required for this role
- Full Driving licence and means of transport is essential for the position.
- A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage with Service Manager and Colleagues to establish best practice in providing a top quality Supported Employment service to our Clients
- Conduct meetings with the client and other stakeholders to determine employment aspirations, experiences, abilities, skills, and potential obstacles to employment.
- Conduct an individual employment assessment to identify a client’s career path
- Establish a rapport with the client and develop a positive working relationship.
- Ensure that the client is an active participant in all phases of their job search.
- Provide information regarding welfare and work.
- Provide information on other support services, education and training support and signpost to other relevant services when necessary.
- Market Employability Kilkenny/Carlow and clients to potential employers.
- Prepare CV’s to best market a client’s abilities to potential employers.
- Source suitable Jobs/work placements / job interviews for the client and prepare them to succeed at interviews
- Liaise with employers, negotiate terms and conditions of employment. Provide on the job training where necessary.
- Act as an advocate for the client if required.
- Provide supports to the job seekers’ employer, supervisor, and co-workers.
- Provide support and assistance to the client throughout the job placement.
- Mentor the client to help them become integrated and independent in the workplace.
- Support employers to integrate their new employee into the workplace.
- Assist in resolution of workplace issues for the client.
- Report on a regular basis regarding client’s progress.
- Always maintain high professional standards and confidentiality.
- Liaise as necessary with DSP on client activity and progression.
- Liaise with DSP Employment Services to identify job seekers that require our support to find employment.
- Participate in training and development programmes locally and nationally
- Participate in continuous improvement processes within Employability Kilkenny/Carlow
- Provide full administrative reporting to the service coordinator based on client activity and progression.
- Liaise with relevant organisations to support a client’s labour market needs.
- Carry out any other function relevant to the position of Job Coach as indicated from time to time by your Service Manager.
