Main Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this post is to help design and deliver innovative methodologies and approaches including training to promote and advance equality and interculturalism within the terms of the ICI Programme. The Project worker will promote the practice of intercultural Community Development across all stakeholders involved in the delivery of the ICI Programme. The Project Worker will assist in developing a creative and accessible online and social media presence to promote equality, diversity and interculturalism while also creating the conditions for respect where cultural diversity is celebrated.
Furthermore, the Project worker will play a key role in the collaborative planning and oversight of the ICI Programme during its 3-year lifetime.
This exciting project is a partnership between Donegal Intercultural Platform CLG and four other organisations led by North West Migrants Forum.
Salary
Salary for this position is set at €37,500 in year one, rising annually on salary scale with pension set at 4% of gross salary as employer contribution.
Conditions of Work:
- The Project worker will be required to work full time, 35 hours per week.
- This role will be subject to a 3-month probationary period and performance in role will be discussed throughout the term.
- Full Driver’s License and access to transport is required.
- This is a fixed term contract that is expected to continue to mid-2028. These terms may be extended or reduced subject to continuation of funding.
- The post may require working outside of normal office hours from time to time, for which candidates will be compensated through an operational system of “time in lieu.”
- Travel and Subsistence expenses will be provided in accordance with DIP agreed policy.
Main Duties. You will be required...
- To help in the delivery and implementation of the ICI Programme in line with the terms of the SEUPB contract and coordinated workplan developed and managed by the North West Migrants Forum as Lead Partner. To provide supervision and support to the Community Links Worker.
- To help design and deliver innovative methodologies and approaches to promote equality including Public Sector Duty awareness in County Donegal, Monaghan and Leitrim as well as Northern Ireland.
- The Project worker will assist in the development of a framework in collaboration the Coordinator, DIP Manager and with the relevant stakeholders for the implementation of the ICI Programme.
- The Project worker will assist in the co-design & delivery of a communication strategy with emphasis on social media/online training as a tool for social change & raising awareness on racism, interculturalism & diversity in partnership with the Lead Partner and other consortium member organisations
- To promote the implementation of current UK and Irish state policy and EU/International policy in relation to equality, racism, human rights as part of the instruments in promoting equality in Donegal.
- To connect with and develop relationships with BME communities including the Traveller and Roma communities and majority communities in the Border counties and relevant representative organisations.
- To help develop interventions in the region to address challenges for minority and ethnic communities across social, economic and culture and to assist in supporting inclusion where appropriate.
- To co-design, develop and deliver training and development programmes with accreditation (where deemed appropriate) to meet the aims of the project and produce submissions and presentations to influence statutory and community bodies to promote equality/equality proof services.
- To work with the ICIP Steering group and the partner organisations to meet the targets and deliver the actions as set out in the ICIP programme and to support the project coordinator and administrator.

Core Competencies Essential
- Training design, delivery and facilitations skills. You will help design and deliver innovative methodologies and approaches including training to promote and advance equality and interculturalism across the delivery region.
- Working and experience of implementating a community development approach to social inclusion & intercultural issues You will be required to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of a community development approach to social inclusion issues, human rights informed approaches and intercultural practice.
- Understanding of the practice and theory of Interculturalism/ Equality/Diversity/ Inclusion/Gender Equality & Intersectionality. You will be required to demonstrate a detailed, current working knowledge and an understanding of the practice and theory of Interculturalism, Equality, Diversity Inclusion and Gender Equality. An appreciation and understanding of intersectionality of issues and challenges.
- Project and Stakeholder Delivery. You will have experience in delivering multiple projects to successful outcomes including stakeholder reporting covering, activity and financial evaluation, helping provide project plans, using advanced Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Excellence in Communication and interpersonal skills including IT expertise. You will have experience of forming good working relationships with organisations and communities and influencing others, combined with excellent written and verbal communication, listening skills and IT skills including excellent online social media skills as a tool for promoting and building the profile of the ICIP.
- Relevant Third Level Qualifications. A recognised Third Level/professional qualification in Community Development /Learning & Development/ Social Inclusion / Equality/Diversity/ Peace-building or related field OR extensive evidenced experience in this area of work.
- Knowledge of Equality/Human Rights Legislations in Ireland. Appreciation and understanding of Equality / Human Rights legislation in Ireland and the United Kingdom / Northern Ireland.
- Working knowledge of Adult and professional development training. Working knowledge of designing and delivering training & development programmes for individuals and institutions including intercultural training.

Desirable Core Competencies
- Facilitation experience in a similar organisation.
- Professional training qualification e.g.: Training and Development QQI / NVQ
- Knowledge of the relevant NGOs and state bodies who focus on Equality and Human Rights
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Evidenced experience working for and with community-based committees/boards of management.
- Working in the area of equality and human rights.
- Reflective practice and evaluation approach and experience.
- Event organisation from developing the concept, planning, delivery on the day including risk assessment.
- A comprehensive knowledge of terms, themes and issues related to racism and race-related discrimination in Ireland and Northern Ireland including Travellers and Roma.
- Proven teamwork and collaborative skills working in both design and delivery of community – based projects.
- Commitment to social progress, positive social change and the participation of the marginalised and minoritised.
Location
The main office of DIP is at 18/19 Academy Court, Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny, and the worker will be located there. Given the requirements of data protection (GDPR) and company law and public-facing nature of the role, the main duties will be carried out in the organisation office and in the wider community. There will be some limited scope of hybrid working on specific tasks with agreement in advance with the company manager.
