Digital Media Officer
Location: Hybrid with possibility to be based in Cork or Dublin Office.

EPIC, Empowering People in Care (EPIC), is an independent, non-governmental organisation that advocates for the rights of children and young people in care or with care-experience.
Job Purpose
EPIC is seeking a skilled and creative digital media officer to progress our public engagement strategy in collaboration with staff and EPIC Youth Councils and Care Community members.
The successful candidate will play a key role in telling EPIC’s story through engaging visual and written content that highlights the voices of children and young people with care-experience.
As digital media officer, you’ll bring EPIC’s mission to life by producing compelling digital content - from videos and graphics to social posts, blogs and newsletters - that amplifies the voices of care-experienced children and young people and communicates EPIC's work and impact to a variety of audiences.
Main Responsibilities
- Create engaging content (graphics, videos and stories) for EPIC’s social media platforms that effectively communicate EPIC’s values, vision and mission, key work areas, and impact.
- Support the development and implementation of digital content strategies and creative campaigns for diverse audiences.
- Maintain and schedule recurring and evergreen content across EPIC’s channels.
- Write, edit, and adapt content for EPIC’s website, newsletter, and publications, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility.
- Use social media and website analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, and optimise content strategies.
- Collaborate with EPIC’s Youth Councils and staff to create authentic youth-led content.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support other communication related tasks as required.
- Collaborate with other EPIC teams and departments as needed.
- Participate in team meetings, online and in-person, and provide updates as required.
- Participate as part of the EPIC team ensuring the values of the organisation are always upheld.
- Participate in regular supervision with your line manager.
- Be vigilant to any child protection risks, health and safety risks, and data protection risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to designated officers and/or your line-manager.
- Undertake other duties as may be required to meet organisational objectives.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Third level qualification in a relevant field such as communications, content creation, media production, digital media, multimedia, journalism, marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in content creation.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, purpose-driven content in a variety of formats and tones.
- Experience producing short-form video content for social media.
- Solid knowledge of current trends in digital storytelling, social media engagement, and accessible design.
- Proficiency with content creation tools such as Canva.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Strong interest in the role of communications in driving social change and amplifying youth voices.
- Ability to work independently and produce results.
Desirable
- Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems.
- Experience of working in the youth sector or on projects that involve youth participation.
- Knowledge of children’s rights and the Irish care system.
- Knowledge of ethics and standards for charity communications.
- A clean driving licence and access to a car.

Terms
This is a 1 year fixed term post, subject to funding this may be extended.
Annual leave entitlement of 25 day per annum. In addition to annual leave, the office is closed for one day at Easter and three days at Christmas.
Participation in the company pension scheme is matched by a 5% Employer contribution on completion of the probationary period.
This role will be flexible in line with EPIC’s current hybrid working model – requiring office-based work and some remote work – within the working hours of the organisation.
This post will involve travel within Ireland and have regular evening and occasional weekend work. Travel expenses and additional hours will be compensated in accordance with EPIC’s Mileage and TOIL Policies.
The post holder will undertake training on Children First (Tusla e-learning programme) and always abide by this and by EPIC’s policies on child protection and welfare.

Salary: Scale commencing at 40,000 per annum commensurate with experience. (Scale € 40,000 to € 51,107)
