Orione Care Ireland is a community-based Charity dedicated to providing a range of services to Senior Citizens and families from the Ballyfermot and surround areas.
The purpose of the job
To deliver a maintenance, repair, and gardening service that help improve safety, accessibility, and comfort in the homes of older people and vulnerable adults. This role combines practical skills with a compassionate and respectful approach to service users, making a direct and meaningful impact on people’s quality of life.
Duties
- Carry out general maintenance, gardening, painting, decorating, and other minor repairs.
- Ensure all works are completed to a high standard and in line with Health and Safety regulations.
- Evaluate the quality of completed work and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain courteous, respectful, and confidential communication with service users at all times.
- Support the overall presentation and promotion of our organisation
- Attend team meetings and assist with service improvement initiatives.
- Identify and report any issues or concerns to the General Manager
- Ensure safe working practices are followed on all jobs and locations.
- Maintain accurate records and liaise with the Manager as required.
Person Specification
- We are looking for a practical, dependable, and community-minded individual who takes pride in their work and has a genuine desire to make a positive difference in our community with an ability to work in a changing environment with a problem solving and can- do attitude to their day-to-day tasks.
- A willingness to engage in ongoing training and development is essential, as is the ability to represent Orione Care and our tenants, clients and residents with professionalism, care, and respect at all times.
Qualifications
- Full clean driving licence.
Essential Skills
A minimum of 3 years proven experience in a direct maintenance role, with a knowledge of building materials, and an ability to carry out repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety in a residential work setting.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Source materials to carry out the necessary repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and reporting requirements.
- Reporting and logging all completed repairs on a continuous basis and supplying this log daily to management.
- Inspect grounds and facilities routinely to determine necessary repairs and maintenance.
Desirable Skills
- Qualifications or trade certification in a relevant area (e.g. carpentry, painting, Decorating etc).
- Experience in general maintenance, construction and Health & Safety.
- Previous experience working with older people or in a community-focused role.
This position is subject to Garda Vetting.
