Job Title: Family Support Worker
Location: Boyces Street, Cork City
Reports to: Family Service Manager
Hours: 28 hours per week. Some out of hours work may be required.
Fixed Term: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: €30,000
Purpose: To provide evidence-based family support services to parents, who are impacted by substance use.
This post also requires an administrative role for the family service.

Role Responsibilities: (Include, but not limited to):
- Encourage families to focus on their own wellness.
- Assist family members to identify their needs strengths, personal interests, and goals.
- Signpost families to appropriate local support services and information services in the community, as needed.
- Deliver the evidence-based Parenting Under Pressure (PUP) and/or 5-step practice model on a one to one bases and /or other evidence based supports to family members.
- Liaise and co-operate with colleagues and wider support services in the community.
- Participate in monthly supervision sessions and weekly MDT meetings with play/art and Pup therapists.
- Build supportive and respectful relationships with family members.
- Participate in relevant training, as necessary
- Identify and complete relevant funding applications
- Complete administrative tasks as the administrator for the service. This would include managing the waiting list, intake of referrals, phonecalls, emails and other administrative day to day tasks.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the service manager.
- To work within the policies of Coolmine Therapeutic Community in order to ensure that a consistent delivery of service, quality standards and best practice are adhered to at all times
Administration skills
- Manage the waiting list and intake of referrals for the service.
- Answer phonecalls for the service as well as emails.
- Effectively case manage therapeutic family support care plans.
- Complete any administrative tasks delegated by the team.
- Engage in record keeping, case notes and HRB’s for the families being worked with.
- Administer the day-to-day aspects of the service and facilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to work to tight deadlines and operate effectively with competing priorities.
- Demonstrate a person-centred focus when supporting family members.
- Provide reports and statistics as requested.
- Participate in ongoing evaluation and other initiatives to improve the quality of the service.
- Demonstrate the ability to interact in a professional manner with key stakeholders.
Person Specification:
Eligibility to Work (Essential)
- Must have a valid Irish Work Permit for the EU and Ireland.
Education (Essential)
- Minimum of NFQ Level 7 Accredited Undergraduate Diploma in addiction/social studies or related field.
- Experience working within the drug and alcohol or Family support sector
- Competent in Microsoft office- (particularly word, PowerPoint and excel), Canva and emails.
- Two years’ experience working within the drug and alcohol field and/or families
- Experience in delivering evidence based programme.
- Familiar with Community, mental health and family support Services
Experience (Desirable)
- Can understand the dynamics and interface between the individual and the community.
- Familiar with various evidence-based models of rehabilitation, counselling, and recovery approaches.
- Experience of the implementation and evaluation of care planning/case management
- Experience of group facilitation.
- Has experience and understands the importance and implications of working as part of a team.
- Has experience of interagency working within support services and as part of MDT team.
- Proficient in Microsoft office and administrative duties.
Knowledge & Skills
- Flexible in meeting the needs of the parents they are working with.
- Must demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of addiction and recovery and the needs of families.
- Have a “can do” attitude and a positive solution focused approach to conflict resolution.
