Overview of the role

  • Provide direct therapeutic psychological service to children, young people (& their families) as referred by the HSE Primary Care Team.
  • To provide evidence informed group &/or 1:1 therapeutic interventions to address psychological needs of children & adolescents referred under HSE Primary Care initiative.
  • To engage with regular case management planning & review in collaboration with identified HSE Senior Psychologist for HSE PC Psychology initiative.
  • To participate in clinical supervision and line management for support and guidance (as identified with LFRC).

Criteria

It is essential you meet of one of the following;
  • Psychologist: with doctorate or equivalent in Clinical, Counselling, Educational Psychology.
  • A recognised qualification at minimum Level 8 or higher qualification on the NQAI framework in Counselling or Psychotherapy.
  • Mental Health Nurse: registered with An Bord Altranais with additional child counselling/ psychotherapy/ CBT training and demonstrated experience in working with children and families.
  • Social Worker / Occupational Therapist: registered with CORU with additional child counselling / psychotherapy / CBT training and demonstrated experience in working with children and families.
  • Counsellor / Psychotherapist: accredited by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP); Irish or British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP or BACP) or Irish Association for Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) with additional training and demonstrated experience in working with children and families. 
    Essential Professional Clinical Experience (Skills; Knowledge; Competence).
  • Psychotherapy (IAHIP) with additional training and demonstrated experience in working with children and families. Essential Professional Clinical Experience (Skills; Knowledge; Competence).
  • A minimum of one year full time, or equivalent, post qualification/accreditation experience working to support children &/or adolescents with mental health needs.

Terms and conditions

Location: HSE Primary Care, Centre Point, Tralee and Listowel Family Resource Centre
Contract: Fixed term contract - 4 months (September-December 2025)
Contract may be extended depending on funding
Probation: 4 month probation Reviewed at 1 and 3 months
Hours: 18.5 hours per week Flexibility and evening work may be required
Salary: €54,897 (pro-rata)
