About Us
The Mid-West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum (MWRDAF) was established under the National Drugs Strategy 2001–2008 to coordinate a regional response to illicit drug use. In partnership with the HSE Mid-West Drug and Alcohol Service, we lead strategic development and implementation across Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary, and Limerick City. Our current Strategic Plan (2024–2027) prioritises expanding recovery opportunities and fostering a culture of recovery in services and communities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Recovery Worker to lead the development of a regional recovery strategy and implement supportive structures and processes. This role plays a vital part in increasing meaningful progression opportunities and embedding recovery across the Mid-West.
Across the continuum of services in the Mid-West we have identified the need to develop opportunities for education, training, occupation, employment and pro-social activities for those in recovery from addiction. The purpose of this post will be to enhance access and availability in these areas for service users in recovery; with a view to identifying pathways post treatment into further education, training and employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a Mid-West recovery strategy
- Engage with services, communities, and stakeholders to promote a culture of recovery
- Design and support processes that enable meaningful progression opportunities
- Collaborate with partner agencies and the HSE to align efforts and maximize impact
- Report regularly to the Regional Co-ordinator, MWRDAF
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A relevant third-level qualification in social care, community development, addiction studies, or a related field
- Strong understanding of recovery in substance use contexts
- Excellent communication, engagement, and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience in strategy development and community engagement
Desirable Experience
- Direct experience working in the addiction recovery field
- Knowledge of regional and national drug and alcohol policy frameworks
- Experience working with statutory and community-based services
Terms & Application
This is a full-time position based in Limerick, with regional travel required.
