Job Title: Community Engagement Worker

Reporting to: Co-CEO, Kate Clifford, funded by SICAP, Paul Partnerhship

Key Areas of Work/Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Outreach: 

Engage with Older People living in the community of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Lead outreach activities to build trust and encourage participation in programmes that lead to improved quality of life for individuals and communities. Coordination of relevant community events. Support groups in the area to identify and access funding.

Capacity Building & Support: 

Provide one-on-one mentoring, advice, and support to individuals, to build capacity, & enhance wellbeing. Take a creative approach to engagement with communities and individuals to assist them in developing their confidence. Support individuals to create personal action plans, and navigate services related to education, employment, wellbeing and welfare. . Caseload management to meet agreed targets. 

Education & Training: 

Coordinate the delivery of Adult Education opportunities in the local community in partnership with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and Limerick Community Education Network; tailored to the needs of community learners. Work with individuals to identify and access current progression opportunities that best suit their needs. This process includes the coordination of Registration Days; applying for administering the REACH funding where appropriate and assisting with the QA process (which includes submitting certification data, Internal Verification, External Authentication).

Monitoring & Reporting: 

Regularly assess the impact of community initiatives, ensuring they meet objectives. Compile reports for stakeholders and funders, ensuring transparency and accountability

General:

  • Work as part of a team and be comfortable bringing ideas and initiatives to team meetings
  • Monitor and value your own self-care
  • Working with colleagues in other areas of the organisation to deliver on community needs
  • Undertake additional duties as may be required from time to time
  • Prepare to engage in community activities and initiatives that may fall on weekends
  • Ensure that the protection and welfare of children is a primary concern and that, when child protection issues arise, procedures are followed.
  • A clear Garda Vetting is a requirement of this role

Person Specification

  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in community development, especially in social inclusion and working with disadvantaged groups and individuals.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a track record of delivering projects
  • Proven ability to coordinate community events.
  • Strong communication skills
  • A relevant third-level qualification and minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.

Hours of Work: 23.5 hours per week, to be carried out. This may include evening and weekend work.

Salary: To be discussed at interview.
