MATERNITY COVER - Outreach Support Worker 
(37.5 hrs per week)

Drogheda Women & Children’s Refuge CLG (DWCR) is a long standing voluntary organisation. We have been working in the community for over 20 years and through our supports and services have helped many thousands of women and children who have experienced domestic violence and/or homelessness. We work closely with a wide range of organisations and agencies to ensure a holistic approach to support for women and children in the Drogheda and Dublin North East area. We work to empower women to of all cultures and backgrounds to live abuse free lives. We provide for women and children safe emergency refuge accommodation, information, emotional support, advocacy, court accompaniment and support to seeking long term accommodation

The purpose of the role of an outreach worker is to provide support for women experiencing domestic violence within the community, and have a housing need due to the domestic abuse. This role includes managing a case load within the community whilst raising awareness and providing educational supports to women around domestic violence.

This role also includes being able to facilitate support groups within the community and deliver programs to meet the needs being presented to the service.

The Outreach worker will also undertake court accompaniments to assist and support women in seeking court orders.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Third level Qualification at degree level in social care, social science, or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in a social care setting, housing development or related context with women/ families/children
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of domestic violence
  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and issues affecting women and children experiencing domestic violence and relevant legislation
  • Knowledge around Risk assessment/Safety and Care planning is essential
  • Facilitation training and communication skills
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • IT and Database skills
