Limerick Travellers Network: Outreach Workers (Part Time) x 3
Limerick Traveller Network (LTN) is a community development initiative set up by Travellers in Limerick City. The Network is made up of 14 Traveller representatives from 8 Traveller sites and 2 housing areas in Limerick City. The aim of LTN is to give Travellers in Limerick City a collective voice and to build Traveller capacity to create positive change for the community in the areas of education, accommodation, mental health and discrimination.
LTN is a Traveller-led project which is supported by Exchange House Ireland National Travellers Service.

3 Outreach Workers
Part-time; 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

Outline of the position
As Outreach Workers, you will be based in Limerick City and joining the existing team.
Main duties
- The work of the LTN Support Worker will include; - Outreach to the local community to provide information & support on local resources, - Gather information on the communities needs to help the LTN work as well as possible on behalf of the community, - Work with other orgs & projects to support the local community, - Attend meetings, training and events that support the work of the LTN.
- Work together with the Limerick Traveller Network team, the wider Limerick Traveller Network, and Exchange House Ireland to support the Traveller Community in Limerick City.
- Take part in meetings as required to help address the needs of Travellers in Limerick City.
- Take part in training.
Responsibilities
- Keep a record of your hours and work as required. (Support to carry out tasks will be provided).
- Undergo Support & Supervision with the LTN Co-ordinator.
- Carry out any other duties that may be requested from time to time by the line manager.
Person Specification
The person we are looking for will have;
- Experience of working with the Traveller community.
- Experience of working within a Traveller organisation would be an advantage.
- Good communication skills
- An understanding of community development using a “ground up” approach.
- Ability to work from an equality and human rights perspective. (The idea that everyone is equal and should be treated with respect and we all have human rights.)
- Be able to work as part of a team.
- Open and willingness to learning (training and development will be provided within the post).
- A passion to build on the work of the Limerick Traveller Network and to make change for the better for the Traveller community in Limerick City.
Terms and Conditions
Based in
- Our Lady of Lourdes Community Centre, Childers Road, Limerick.
Hours of work
- Up to 10 hours net per week
Salary:
- 12-month fixed-term contract
- The salary will be as per the HSE’s Peer Support Worker scale [October 2023] (€32,629 - €41,688, pro-rata), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
