Clare Haven Services, is a voluntary organisation which provides a wide range of support services to women and children subjected to domestic abuse. Clare Haven Services promotes the rights of women and children to live and grow in a peaceful, non-violent home environment.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Children & Young Peoples’ Support Worker’

We are looking for a qualified, committed individual who is passionate about working with Children & Young People, to work as part of the Children & Young People’s Service’s team to ensure consistent care and support for children and young people using the service. You will have the ability to work alone and in team settings to provide a therapeutic environment for young people who are subjected to domestic violence. There will be 4 strands to this work:

  1. To develop an age appropriate therapeutic-centred approach.
  2. To develop and implement individual and group work initiatives in-house and in the 6 main areas of the county where we do outreach.
  3. To deliver in-schools programmes.

To advocate for young people subjected to domestic abuse directly and indirectly to participate in, develop and roll out initiatives within the county as they are identified in collaboration with our stakeholder partners

Contract Status: Fixed Term part-time Contract for 18 months.

Hours of Work: 21 hours per week
The hours will be based on a 3 day working week and will include afternoon and evening work.

Salary €36,945 pro rata.

Successful applicants must have

Relevant third level qualification at degree level in Youth Work, Social Care or other related field. Relevant qualification at Level 6 will also be accepted.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with young people and families.
  • Experience in needs assessment and planning activities that meeting the agreed upon goals with young person/ Mother/ other agencies
  • Experience of working at an inter-agency level to advocate for young people

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to assess the support needs of young people & to signpost to relevant agencies where appropriate
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to be reactive to the needs of the young people.
  • Ability to plan and organize as part of a multi-functional team
  • Ability to provide a supportive space.
  • Ability to engage with a variety of professional and individuals to provide a holistic & integrated response to the needs of young people
  • Be committed to work in partnership with mothers, the community and other stakeholders
  • Strong I.T. skills
  • Report writing abilities
