We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Fundraising Coordinator to develop and lead CARI’s fundraising strategy.

Job Title: Fundraising Coordinator

Location: Based in Limerick with hybrid working options; occasional travel to Dublin required
Reports to: Chief Executive & Clinical Officer (CECO)
Contract Type: Fixed-term, 2 years (potential extension subject to funding)
Hours: Part-time (3 days per week)
Salary: €40,000 per annum (Full-time equivalent €65,000)
Start Date: October

About CARI

CARI is a specialist charity providing child-centred therapy and support services to children, families, and carers affected by child sexual abuse. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed principles, confidentiality, and a deep commitment to the rights and welfare of the child. We advocate for children’s voices to be heard, and for those affected by sexual abuse to receive the care they deserve.

Role Overview

This is a key role in ensuring our long-term sustainability and ability to support vulnerable children and families. The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong donor relationships, coordinating fundraising campaigns, and growing our base of unrestricted income. You will work closely with the CECO, the Board Fundraising Subcommittee, external partners, and existing staff including those involved in trusts and grant writing. A deep understanding of ethical fundraising and sensitivity to the subject matter is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Development:

  • Implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with CARI’s values, needs and new strategy.
  • Conduct a review of past fundraising efforts and recommend improvements
  • Identify new funding opportunities including individual giving, community fundraising, corporate partnerships, and legacy giving.

Donor Engagement & Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, supporters, and key stakeholders
  • Take over stewardship of key relationships from the CECO and ensure consistent, appropriate engagement
  • Create and maintain a donor database/CRM to track interactions and outcomes

Campaign & Event Management:

  • Plan and execute ethical fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring they are aligned with CARI’s trauma-informed approach
  • Work with communications staff or partners to ensure messaging is accurate, sensitive, and appropriate

Media & Communications (as relevant to fundraising)

  • Develop/ update content for CARI’s website, newsletters, and social media that is sensitive, respectful, and aligned with trauma-informed principles
  • Assist with press releases and media engagement for fundraising events or campaigns, ensuring all public messaging protects the dignity and privacy of service users
  • Liaise with media outlets or partners to promote fundraising initiatives, where appropriate
  • Ensure that all media materials and messaging align with CARI’s ethical standards and core values
  • Plan and deliver digital fundraising campaigns across social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter)
  • Create and schedule engaging, trauma-informed content to promote fundraising initiatives
  • Monitor social media engagement and use insights to refine strategy
  • Respond appropriately to public interactions on social media related to campaigns, ensuring tone is aligned with CARI’s mission and values

Grants & Trusts:

  • Liaise with Trusts & Grants officer to ensure a joined-up approach

Reporting & Monitoring:

  • Provide regular reports to CECO and the Board on fundraising performance, donor engagement, and income generation.
  • Monitor KPIs and adjust strategy as needed.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor development, or similar roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity and discretion in relation to vulnerable groups and trauma-related subject matter
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Familiarity with GDPR and data protection in relation to donor management
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the charity/NGO sector, particularly in child protection, mental health, or trauma services
  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Reporting experience
  • Knowledge of ethical fundraising standards (e.g., Charities Regulator Fundraising Guidelines, Codes of Practice)
