Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage the service in line with policies and procedures and meet all requirements of relevant funding organisations
- Manage a budget and maintain accounts
- Maintain all records as required by Pobal, DCECIY, HSE, Tusla and other relevant organisations
- Implementation of Aistear & Siolta along with the relevant regulatory Framework
- Manage and oversee the childcare service, including direct service provision and day-to-day supervision of Early Years Educators
- Co-ordinate and lead staff, including work rosters
- Network with appropriate statutory and voluntary agencies
- Inform Early Years Educators of policies and procedures in relation to good practice and facilitate adherence to it
- Liaise with room leaders regarding each child’s observation and assessment
- Report to and attend Board meetings and provide written reports
- Recruitment of staff in consultation with the Board of Management
- Liaise with parents/guardians on a regular basis regarding the ongoing progress and development of their children
- Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the Board of Management
- Provide induction training, regular supervision and complete all relevant documentation for the course body, where early years students are on professional practice.
Qualifications/Experience
- Level 7/8 in Early Childhood Education & Care
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Childcare centre, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Comprehensive understanding of childcare regulations and best practices
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- FAR certification
- Good Knowledge of Microsoft office and excel
- Good Knowledge of the HIVE platform
- Experience in Capital Grant applications

- A capacity to communicate well and build relationships with children, staff and parents
- Understanding of good governance and compliance – Charity regulator knowledge would be preferable but not essential
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislations and regulations and Garda vetting systems
- Experience with administration and budget management
- Ability to delegate effectively
- Clear demonstration of the understanding of National Frameworks
- Appreciation of need for strict confidentiality
- Honesty and reliability
Terms and Conditions of Employment
- Salary:
Salary scales offered in current guidance with the ERO standard rates.
- Probation
A probation period of a minimum six months and subject to review.
