Aoibhneas is a Domestic Abuse Support Agency working with Women and Children who are or have been affected by domestic abuse.

Aoibhneas provides a complete continuum of care within a service of excellence. A complete continuum of care arrangement provides for the access of women and children to supports at earliest intervention through provision of prevention and awareness raising programmes, community-based support, refuge accommodation, transitional accommodation, and post refuge/ transitional support.

SOCIAL CARE WORKER - CHILDREN AND YOUTH (DIGITAL SUPPORT)

Job Title: Social Care Worker - Children and Youth (Digital Support)

Post: 20h per week

Reports to: Reports to the CEO and other designated persons

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and tech-savvy Social Care Worker to support children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse. This role focuses on delivering trauma-informed, child-centred care through a new innovative digital platform. You will play a crucial role in providing emotional support, safety planning, psychoeducation, and digital interventions that help children and youth rebuild trust, confidence, and resilience.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide remote emotional and practical support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse through secure digital platforms (video, chat, messaging).
  • Develop and facilitate individual and group-based digital interventions tailored to age, need, and risk level.
  • Maintain a trauma-informed, strength-based approach in all interactions.
  • Engage in digital safety planning and risk assessments in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Build trust and rapport with young service users, ensuring they feel safe and heard in virtual settings.
  • Collaborate with caregivers, schools, and partner agencies to support holistic care planning and referral.
  • Provide training in the form of talks, workshops, etc., to schools, statutory and non-statutory agencies.
  • Create community awareness regarding the impact of domestic abuse in children and youth and best practices to recognise, respond and refer.
  • Develop referral links for children and youth with relevant support services and networks.
  • Develop links with services in the North Dublin, North Inner City and North County Dublin with local service providers, gardai, schools, children and youth groups.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records and statistics in line with GDPR and organisational safeguarding policies.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of digital service delivery models.
  • Attend supervision, training, and team meetings as required.

Person Requirements

Essential

  • Third Level Qualification at degree level in childcare, childhood and youth development, social science, social care or related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year's relevant work experience working in a social care setting with children/youth.
  • Proven experience working with children and/or young people impacted by trauma, abuse, or adversity.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact on children and youth.
  • Confident in using digital platforms for therapeutic or support work with young people.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage caseloads remotely.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection training.
  • Experience of key-working clients or individual casework.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Children’s First Legislation/ Child Care Act.
  • Excellent facilitation, training and communication skills.

Terms & Conditions

  • Consolidated HSE Salary Scale: Point 1: €33,130 (pro-rata)
  • Part Time post 20-hour week/ Monday to Friday/ Hours subject to agreement 3pm-9pm
  • 1 Year Fixed Term Contract
  • Employer Pension Contribution of 5%.
  • Annual leave 22 days inclusive of 2 wellbeing days with incremental days in line with service.
