Turners Cross Community Association

The history of Turners Cross Community Association dates back to 1987 when a small group of people came together to look at the possibility of forming a Community Association.

With the support of the then called Cork Community Development Institute and in particular its Community Development Worker, Tom Carey and Jim O’Donovan of the then called Cork Corporation.  Meetings took place, visits made to neighbouring community associations and research done.  After a lot of hard work a Community Association was established with trustees and Local Approved Council status from Cork Corporation.

The Community comprised of representatives elected to represent all the areas of Turners Cross stretching from Greenhills on South Douglas Rd. to Summerhill South and from Connolly Rd. to Douglas Rd. and all areas in between.
