Age Action Care and Repair Programme

The Care & Repair Programme was established to carry out “odd jobs” for  older people and to provide a befriending service. The programme is currently based in Dublin, Galway and Cork, and on a franchise basis in other locations around the country. Care & Repair is funded by Irish Life Plc.

The main aim of the Programme is to assist older people to carry out necessary small repairs and improvements to their homes, enabling them to live independently in the community in increased comfort and safety.

Alzheimer Society

The Alzheimer Society is a national organisation with branches throughout Ireland.

Each branch can provide information and emotional support to families and carers.

Day Care and Home Support/Home Care is also co-ordinated by the local branch committee.

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland has set up a National Helpline which is, first and foremost, a listening ear for the thousands of carers of people with Alzheimer's Disease or a related dementia who call for information and support every year.

Aphasia Ireland

Create awareness and support for people with aphasia and those around them. The Mission of Aphasia Ireland is to encourage public awareness and understanding of aphasia and provide support to all persons with aphasia and their caregivers. It is our aim to assist people with aphasia and their carers to lead a more fulfilling life by providing speech & language therapy, music therapy and art therapy.

Befrienders Dublin

The aims of Befrienders Dublin are:
To improve the quality of life of people with mental health difficulties.
To promote the independence of such individuals and encourage their integration into the local community.
To assist people with mental health difficulties to re-establish personal interests and social contacts within the community; alleviating social isolation and exclusion.
To motivate and support individuals with mental health difficulties in accessing other community resources.

Care Alliance Ireland is the National Network of Voluntary Organisations supporting family carers.

Our aims include:

  • To enhance the status and well being of family carers, through supporting the work and activities of family carers organisations.
  • To promote research into family carers lives, and to promote the sharing of information and ideas between family carer organisations.

Caring for Carers Ireland

Caring for Carers is a National non-governmental organisation providing support to Homebased Carers through a growing network of Carers Groups throughout Ireland.

Caring for Carers, in collaboration with Homebased Carers aims to promote the Health, Well Being and Quality of Life of Homebased Carers and those for whom they care, by promoting Recognition of their role, providing Respite Care, Information, Training and Advocacy to promote Social Inclusion within the Context of our Carers Charter.

CROSSCARE Carer-Support Programme

Crosscare Carer Support Programme has been working to support family carers in the North Dublin and County Dublin area for over 15 years. Our aim is to help improve the quality of life of family carers who are often vulnerable and under stress.  Our experience informs us that if the carer is supported, not only will the well being of the carer be enhanced but also that the person being cared for may be enabled to stay at home for as long as is possible.

Dublin 15 Leader Forum is an autonomous peer support group within the Independent Living movement providing practical, social and emotional supports for people with disabilities.  It is a non-profit group helping members through a network of people who work together to share knowledge, find friendship and reach out to the wider community in an effort to improve accessibility and promote inclusion

Family Carers Ireland

Family Carers Ireland is the national charity dedicated to supporting the 355,000+ family carers across the country who dedicate their lives to caring for loved ones such as children or adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, frail older people, the terminally ill or those suffering from chronic illnesses or addiction.

Friends Of The Elderly

Friends Of The Elderly aims to combat loneliness of elderly people by providing friendship, social contact and opportunities for involvement in community activities and helping them become more fully integrated in their own communities.

Services include social contact, home and hospital visiting, holidays, outings and parties.
