Area of Work:

CARI (Children at Risk in Ireland) Foundation

The CARI Foundation is a registered charity founded in 1989. Our primary aim is to provide a professional, child centred therapy and counselling service to children, families, and groups who have been affected by child sexual abuse.

Alongside this we aim to provide the most up to date education and information service for children, adults and professionals on the dynamics of child sexual abuse, and, moreover, to raise public and political awareness of these issues.

Clare Haven Services

Clare Haven Services is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the rights of women and children to live and grow in a peaceful non-violent home environment. We offer assistance to those experiencing domestic abuse which inhibits women making their own choices.

Our website provides information on the range of confidential support services available in Co. Clare to women and children who are experiencing (or experienced) domestic abuse.

Esker House Women’s Refuge and Domestic Abuse Support Service

Esker House Women's Refuge and Domestic Abuse Support Service provides temporary safe accommodation for women and their children and support and information for women experiencing domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse is the physical, emotional, sexual or mental abuse of one person by another within close, intimate or family relationship.

In most situations the abuser uses a range of abusive behaviours to gain and ensure power and control over the other person and these abusive actions often get worse over time.

Galway Rape Crisis Centre

The Galway Rape Crisis Centre was founded in 1984 by a group of women in the Galway community who were concerned about the lack of services for survivors of sexual abuse and rape. The response to sexual violence and abuse arose largely out of the feminist movement in the eighties, where women got together in groups and many disclosed their traumatic experiences.
