Cork Association for Autism

Overview

The Cork Association for Autism (CAA) is a Section 39 organisation substantially funded by the HSE but supported by a fully voluntary Board and a host of volunteers. The CAA has evolved into a service of excellence, now employing 140 staff who range from care assistants to social care workers and outreach support workers.

Aims and Objectives

The service provides person centred support and skill development programs to adults on the Autism spectrum throughout Cork. The service is the preeminent provider in the region and aims to grow in the number of services provided and also the number of individuals who can avail of the services.

The research and international codes of best practice associated with the Autism spectrum is evolving rapidly. We are in the middle of a demographic bulge because of better diagnosis in recent decades. The core objective of the Association is to provide best-in-class services, delivering individual focused care plan for as many individuals as possible in the region. Our objective is to support each individual to access and develop educational, vocational, spiritual, social and recreational opportunities.

We aim to grow the awareness and understanding within our community and society generally of the unique challenges faced by individuals within the Autism Spectrum.

Our aim is for our service to be a model of excellence in our field by maintaining national standards and constantly re-evaluating and developing our working practice in order to improve our level of service.

Our mission is to ensure that those availing of our services and their families have a quality of life that we all aspire to. We aim to develop the potential of each client, by treating each person as a unique and respected individual having equal rights and entitlements as the rest of society.
