Voluntary Housing Support Services has been successfully supporting Volunteer run Housing Associations for over 10 years. It began providing support to Housing Associations in County Limerick and has now expanded beyond and is providing services to the wider geographical area.

We were set up by a group of housing associations who foresaw the increasing need for a professional support service going into the future. Innovative at the time, it has now proved to be a vital lifeline for volunteer run AHBs. With an active and dedicated board of directors drawn from the member associations it clearly understands and responds to the particular challenges facing the volunteer run social housing sector.

Recent increases in regulation and other mandatory social housing obligations have resulted in greater administrative demands on volunteers’ time and resources. With the increasing workload and the added difficulty in replacing volunteers, the question to be asked is “who will manage our associations in one year, two years and into the future?”

Mission Statement

The Voluntary Housing Support Services Company is committed to delivering and supporting a range of services, advice and information to Voluntary Housing Associations in County Limerick and adjoining areas. This will be done in furtherance of the member’s objectives in meeting their obligations under the Voluntary Housing provisions of the local authority and national government and in the best interests of their tenants, while embracing and promoting best practice and excellence in governance.

The Company aims to fulfill its mission by focusing on:

• Delivering the best services and best information at the best value
• Developing and providing management advice and services to meet the needs of its members
• Providing strategic opportunities for collaboration between the Voluntary Housing agencies in the county and adjoining areas.
• Gaining leverage from expertise, scale and position as a county and national network service
• Encouraging research and development to further the housing needs of the elderly and disadvantaged.
