FASD Ireland

FASD Ireland is one of the first organisations of its kind in the country, providing awareness, education and support with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Our organisation exists to support everyone with a connection (whether diagnosed or not) to FASD, and we provide a supportive environment for this to happen. We are extremely grateful to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth for their support and funding of our work.

Our Vision

The Irish population are educated about the risks of exposing a foetus to alcohol, and consciously decide not to consume alcohol when attempting to conceive or whilst pregnant. We strive for a time when Ireland reduces the prevalence of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and provides a diagnosis pathway and tailored support to those that live with the condition.

Our Mission

FASD Ireland was established in September 2021 as a not-for-profit social enterprise, to be the 'go to' hub for everyone living with FASD, including families, carers, educators, healthcare workers and the wider community across Ireland.

We will work tirelessly to challenge and lobby Government to legislate and implement practical strategies that will reduce and prevent FASD in Ireland. FASD is Ireland's most preventable neuro-developmental disability.

FASD Ireland is committed to raising awareness of FASD across the country, to break down barriers and be a catalyst for everyone with FASD to be able to live the life they strive for. This will be achieved by delivering education across Ireland about the risks of exposing a foetus to alcohol, and working with a variety of stakeholders to distribute effective public health campaigns to every part of society.

FASD Ireland will be a loud voice and persistent advocate for people living with FASD.
We want to "Get Ireland talking about FASD" and we will work with all stakeholders to ensure that FASD is considered and respected in every walk of life.

Our Values

FASD Ireland exists to support everyone living with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder across Ireland.
We understand. We can advise. We will help you where we are able to. We provide education and advocacy in education.
We will never blame or shame. We will challenge when it is required.
We will seek answers when they are needed.
