"To help children to name more stars in the sky, than stars on the screen"
Aims: To preserve and protect the night sky for present and future generations by raising awareness of light pollution and it's impact to our environment, wellbeing, biodiversity and local economy.
We work with local communities, representives, schools, local authorities and environmental groups to develop information and education on how to reduce light waste, protect nocturnal wildlife, and enhance our night sky. We do this through events, outreach, creating resources and guidelines and engaging with others. Our work extends beyond Mayo and we are a founder member of the Dark Sky Ireland Network as well as host to international events for protecting our night sky heritage.
