Presentation Centre for Policy and Systemic Change

The Centre was established in 1999 by the Presentation Sisters, in recognition of the need for strategic thinking in relation to the future development of their work. The Centre's work covers four broad areas: learning innovation; social inclusion; influencing public policy, and human rights/ecology.

Our Vision

The Presentation Centre is inspired by the Gospels, Catholic Social Teaching, the example of Nano Nagle, founder of the Presentation Sisters, and an understanding of faith that seeks to do justice. The Centre is committed to:

  • building a more just and inclusive society where people's rights and dignity are respected, and where communities are empowered to reach their full human development;
  • promoting education for social transformation;
  • tackling the root causes of injustice through education, critical analysis, advocacy and influencing public policy;
  • campaigning for global human rights, social justice and development issues;
  • promoting a spirituality of justice;
  • working with communities in collaborative and participative ways, to overcome poverty and social exclusion;
  • evaluating our policies from the perspective of the preferential option for people who are poor;
  • promoting right relationships with self, others, God and all of creation;
  • dialogue and collaboration with all who work for social justice in realising a new vision of society. We recognise that there are many who share the values of social justice and equality, but who may not do so from a Christian perspective.
