Comeragh Wilderness Camp

Comeragh Wilderness Camp is a unique programme for young people who are having difficulty with their education. The camp offers a group experience that helps youth learn social and life skills, and an outdoor-based approach to education that reignites interest in learning. Cooking meals on a fire, building shelters in the forest, hiking in the Comeragh mountains, canoeing a river, observing nature, and studying elective themes are ways that learning happens at CWC.

The camp is open for referrals for boys aged 12-15, who have experienced failure in their education and family relationships. The aim of CWC is to give the young person the necessary skills to return to their home, community, and school successfully. The programme is residential, with an average stay of 18 months.

The objectives of the programme are:

  • Help a boy form a positive view of himself and his problems
  • Aid the boy in respecting others and building healthy relationships
  • Show the boy that education is a positive, useful part of everyday life
  • Equip the boy with self-help and problem-solving skills
  • Give the boy experience in being a responsible member of his community
  • Facilitate the building of healthy family relationships
  • Encourage the boy’s spiritual development

We are now accepting applications for enrolment. For further information on our programme, you can visit our website or contact us by phone or email.
