Drugs Rehabilitation Worker
(Job Share – 2.5 Days per Week)
Casadh is a community-based project that provides a holistic, person-centred response to people affected by drug misuse and/or addiction. We are seeking a dedicated Drugs Rehabilitation Worker to contribute to our Day Programme, supporting participants through individual and group interventions, enabling them to realise their potential by addressing social, emotional, educational, spiritual, and health needs. The successful candidate will foster a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment that promotes learning, personal development, and long-term recovery.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant qualification (minimum QQI Level 7) and 3+ years’ experience working in addiction services.
- Training/qualification in Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), or a commitment to achieving this.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and show initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A professional and empathetic approach when working with clients.
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Teamworking skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Strong administration, organisational, and time management abilities.
- Experience of interagency and partnership work.
- An understanding of community development and social inclusion is desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Drugs Rehabilitation Worker will:
- Prepare monthly reports on participant care planning.
- Liaise with community and business partners to identify education, training, and employment opportunities.
- Facilitate group sessions on addiction awareness, relapse prevention, life skills, and personal development.
- Deliver CRA-based one-to-one sessions, supporting service users in goal setting and overcoming obstacles to progress in personal, social, educational, and vocational areas.
- Provide timely support to individuals in lapse and relapse situations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and case notes in line with organisational and statutory requirements.
- Promote effective team communication by participating in team, clinical, and case management meetings, as well as programme planning and evaluation.
- Work in line with NDRIC requirements and HSE reporting protocols.
- Manage and participate in the referral and assessment process for new and potential service users.
- Liaise with external agencies, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to advocate for and support service users.
- Promote Casadh’s work through networking and interagency collaboration.
- Engage in continuous professional development, staying up to date with motivational approaches and effective interventions.
- Attend relevant training, supervision, and appraisal processes to reflect on practice and identify areas for growth.
- Contribute to the safe operation and security of the premises in line with organisational guidelines.
- Work within Casadh’s policies, ethos, and good practice guidelines.
- Undertake any additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.
What You’ll Be Doing
Every day is different at Casadh, but your work will include:
- Supporting participants through one-to-one sessions and group workshops on relapse prevention, life skills, and personal development.
- Using CRA approaches to help people set goals and work through challenges in education, training, employment, health, and relationships.
- Preparing care plans and monthly progress reports to track and celebrate growth.
- Linking with local businesses, community partners, and agencies to open up new opportunities for participants.
- Providing timely support in lapse and relapse situations, helping individuals stay connected to recovery.
- Keeping accurate records and contributing to programme planning and evaluation.
- Playing an active role in team meetings, case reviews, and service development.
- Promoting Casadh’s work through networking and advocacy.
- Taking part in training, supervision, and reflective practice, with opportunities for ongoing professional development.
- Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-run centre.
