About the Mother McAuley Centre:

The Mother McAuley Centre is a community-based charity in Drimnagh, Dublin 12, dedicated to supporting older adults through social and health-focused services. We aim to foster independence, connection, and wellbeing among our elderly community.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate Driver for the Elderly to provide transportation for service users attending the Centre’s activities, appointments, or community events. Delivery of meals on wheels. The role is essential in ensuring our clients maintain social inclusion and access to vital services, delivered with dignity and care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transport elderly clients safely to and from the Centre, local medical appointments, shops, or community activities.
• Delivery of meals on wheels
• Assist service users when boarding and exiting the vehicle, especially those with limited mobility or using mobility aids.
• Ensure clients feel respected, supported, and comfortable during journeys.
• Perform basic safety checks on the vehicle before use and keep it clean and presentable.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel use, and schedules.
• Communicate with Centre Manager about service users’ needs or changes in health or mobility.
• Follow all RSA road safety regulations and charity transport policies.

Requirements:

• Full, clean D1 class Irish driver’s licence.
• Experience working with older adults or vulnerable groups is highly desirable.
• A kind, patient, and respectful manner.
• Strong punctuality and reliability.
• Garda Vetting required.
• Manual handling and basic first aid (or willingness to complete training).
• Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality principles.

Desirable:

• Previous experience driving for a community organisation, charity, or day service.
• Familiarity with the Drimnagh area and wider Dublin 12 surroundings.
