We empower people to build better lives through inclusive, innovative, and high-quality services. In 2024, we served over 50,000 meals and supported more than 2,000 service users. We are currently recruiting a Kitchen Operative to join our team.
Location: The Mendicity Institution, 9 Island Street, Dublin 8
Purpose of Job:
As a Kitchen Operative, you’ll prepare and deliver evening meals while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. You’ll play a vital part in our mission to support those in need with dignity, care, and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and service an evening meal
- Ensure the kitchen, dining area and workspaces are clean throughout and at the end of shifts
- Ensure cleaning of all utensils and equipment as per Health & Safety guidelines
- Uphold standards of safety and hygiene at the Mendicity
- Keep accurate records and report any accidents or incidents
- Be familiar with and follow emergency and evacuation procedures
- Attend relevant training and take on additional duties as required
The ideal person will have
- 1 year previous experience working in a catering / kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food hygiene legislation (Regulation 852/2004/EC)
- Ability to work alone, on own initiative and to work as part of a team
Contract terms and duration
This is a full-time position M-F evenings from 3pm - 11pm (40 hours per week)
This position is subject to Garda Vetting. This position is subject to funding. Probationary period is 3 months.
Salary: €13.50 per hour
