Job Description
West Cork Travellers is a Traveller-led community development organisation working to achieve cultural, health, economic, social & political equality for the Traveller Community. We provide a range of services to the Traveller Community across West Cork, from our main base in Clonakilty as well as outreach services to Bantry, Skibbereen, Bandon and Macroom.
Title: Development/Support Worker
Nature of the Post: Part-time 21 hours per week – Monday - Wednesday. The post can include occasional evening and weekend work.
Primarily based in the WCT centre in Clonakilty, however the geographic focus of the work will be Skibbereen, Bantry, Bandon, Clonakilty and Macroom.
This post is funded by the HSE Community Work Department.
Overall Objective:
To work as part of the Health and Development team to develop and implement support structures to enhance the health and well-being and lived experience of the community. To work from a human rights perspective and identify actions to support and build capacity with Traveller individuals and families specifically in the areas of accommodation, education and training. To engage with relevant stakeholders and agencies and build positive working relations to affect positive social change. Develop a range of programmes and initiatives based on the needs of the Traveller Community in West Cork. The post holder will be expected to work within the context of the social determinants of health.
Salary: €23,930 pro rata (€39,883 full-time)
