Job title: Support Worker for Traveller Parents

Employer: Raheen Community Development Group CLG t/a ARC FRC

Area to cover: Clonroche, Gorey & Bunclody areas (North County Wexford)

Hours: This is a part time position – days and hours will be agreed with the successful candidate

Office base: ARC FRC Clonroche Office, Main Street, Clonroche, Co. Wexford

Collaboration: The successful candidate will work closely with their colleague covering South County Wexford.

Salary: €18,572.50

Contract type: 1 Year, Fixed-term contract (with a view to renewal annually, subject to funding)

Details:

The person will work across North County Wexford working closely with Traveller Parents, organising supports and training, and empowering families.

This will involve; the worker participating in and running training, going to meetings, working with other colleagues, home visits, computer work such as receiving/sending emails, typing letters and looking up information, and driving to various venues.

Essentials for this job:

  • A car and full, clean Driver’s License - County-wide driving will be a feature of this job.
  • A thorough understanding of Traveller culture. • Confidence and experience in working alone.
  • Experience in supporting the Traveller Community.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • General Office skills.

Desirable: 

The ideal candidate should have, or be willing to learn and develop the following:

  • Knowledge of Family Support and Community Development.
  • Group facilitation skills.
  • A qualification in a related field, e.g. social care, youth work, Early Years education, health work, community development work etc.
  • Awareness of TUSLA’s area-based approach to family support.
  • Awareness of TUSLA’s PPFS (Prevention Partnership Family Support)
  • Ability to facilitate culturally appropriate education programmes.
  • Experience of starting and developing community-based initiatives, such as family support groups, training, or one to one family support models.
  • A knowledge of the Parents Plus programme

Contract type: Fixed-term contract commencing in May 2024 and ending at the end of Dec 2024. All ARC FRC contracts are subject to continuous funding. The contract is subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
