Position Title: Information & Advocacy Worker – AMIF PROJECT

Location: Crosscare Migrant Project, 2 St Mary’s Place North, Dublin 7.

Work Schedule: Full-time hybrid role. Consideration will be given to experienced candidates who would prefer 3 or 4 days per week (pro rata). Monday to Friday, 9 – 5pm. Anticipated 50-60% of working week required in-person in our offices. Very occasional evening work. Some flexibility around start and finish times.

Contract: 4 years

Salary: €36,514 to €43,870 (Points 4 – 9 on our salary scale), dependent on experience

Reporting to: Team leader/project leader

The Role: 

The Information & Advocacy Worker will be responsible for delivering on Crosscare Migrant Project’s AMIF (Asylum, Migration & Integration fund) activities, specifically in relation to non-EU migrants living in Ireland. Working in a small team, the successful applicant will take full responsibility for their individual case load, with regular case meetings and on-site training and support. The role is based in our Dublin city centre office. Anticipated 50-60% time working with clients in-person in our office, with working-from-home possible.

General Responsibilities:

Direct case work with clients

  • Providing information to and advocating on behalf of migrants on issues relating to the immigration and associated systems for non-EU migrants
  • Preparing written submissions with or on behalf of clients to statutory services
  • Collaborating with other Crosscare and external projects on multi-issue cases
  • Ensuring all clients are treated with dignity, respect and in a professional manner

Project-specific work

  • Website content management & updating
  • Developing information materials
  • Providing training on migrants rights, as required
  • Contributing to policy & research work, as required

Organisational

  • Working as part of a team, engaging in team meetings, supervision, review and planning sessions
  • Promoting positive working relationships with external organisations
  • Maintaining Crosscare confidentiality at all times, following policies and procedures, and data protection legislation

Administration

  • Database and hard-copy case managment
  • Keeping up-to-date with immigration case law and policies

Applicant must have full eligibility to work in Ireland, and must be resident in Ireland while holding the position

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of information provision on a one-to-one basis
  • Experience of advocacy work on behalf of clients
  • Knowledge of the immigration system (for example, citizenship applications, EU Treaty Rights, status issues, ISD & GNIB)
  • Experience working with people from different cultures
  • Degree / post-graduate qualification in social sciences or equivalent
  • Fluent English
  • Excellent literacy and verbal skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy and varied caseload independently
  • Applicant must have full eligibility to work in Ireland, and must be resident in Ireland while holding the position
