Applications are sought for the position of Family Support Worker (DSGBV) with Good Shepherd Cork.

Good Shepherd Cork is an independent, Cork-based charity. We provide emergency and longer-term accommodation, education, outreach and support services to families, women and children across Cork City and County who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

This position will involve working 24 hours per week. Based in Support & Advocacy Service, Henry Street providing support across Good Shepherd Cork Services. Flexibility will be required about working hours. This is a permanent contract.

Reporting to the Manager the successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualification in Social Care, Social Work, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting families.
  • Experience of supporting families affected by DSGBV or trauma.
  • Strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the long-term impact of trauma.
  • Knowledge of the effects of homelessness on children and families.
  • Experience in building strong, positive relationships with families in challenging circumstances.
  • A full clean driving license and have access to appropriate transport.
  • Knowledge of national policy on DSGBV in Ireland.
  • Excellent report-writing and record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and service delivery.
  • Alignment with the vision, mission, and values of Good Shepherd Cork.
