Social Care Leader

The Organisation

Cuanlee CLG is a Domestic Abuse Support Agency working with women and children who are or have been affected by domestic violence, abuse and coercive control. It provides 6 crisis self-contained units in the refuge, 8 self -contained apartments in the Bessborough Centre, outreach community based supports and childcare supports. Cuanlee has expanded its service to meet the increased demand for accommodation, advocacy, court accompaniment and emotional support.

As a specialist domestic abuse service, the staff team provide a range of pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis responses, that support women who wish to move on and live independently, free from violence, abuse and coercive control. Our professional staff team are available to support, empower and safeguard the rights of women and children during their stay. The organisation has a resilient, flexible, creative and highly skilled frontline staff team to deal with the varied and often complex needs that families’ present with.

Purpose of the Post

This role will play a key role in the provision of accommodation and support to women and children that have experienced domestic abuse. The post holder will work closely with the management team in the delivery and management of all services of Cuanlee CLG.

Details of Post

Job Title: Social Care Leader

Reports to: Lead Manager, Cuanlee CLG

Location: This post will operate from two locations; Cuanlee Refuge, Cork City & Cuanlee’s Apartments located in the Bessborough Centre, Blackrock, Cork

Terms: This post is based on a 37.5 hour week and is subject to funding. It is a fixed term contract until 03.07.2026.

Salary: The salary is based on the HSE Social Care Leader Scale 01/10/2024. Probation: 6 month probationary period applies.

Commencement: August/September 2025

Requirements: This post will be worked over 5 days between Monday and Saturday. Full clean driving Licence required.

Professional Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required

• Third level qualification at degree level in Social Science, Social Care or a related field (minium level 7).
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with women and children that have experienced domestic violence or abuse.
• Excellent theoretical and professional knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, its impact on women and children and the theory related to trauma and recovery.
• A working knowledge of all legislation related to this field of work (Domestic Violence Act, Childrens First, Child Care Act, Freedom of Information Act etc.)
• Comprehensive risk assessment skills as well as knowledge and experience of safety planning and care planning with individuals/families.
