Donegal Domestic Violence Services is a charitable organisation working to support women and their families affected by domestic abuse, throughout the county of Donegal. We are looking to expand our work by recruiting for the following post.

Outreach Support Worker – South Donegal

(Fixed term contract for 24 months – with the possibility of contract extension subject to funding)

Job Title: Outreach Support Worker – covering the South Donegal area (Bundoran – Dungloe)

Main Purpose of job: This post is a dedicated outreach support post covering the area of South Donegal, with some time in the main office in Letterkenny.

Position Reports to: CEO

Location: Main building, Letterkenny

Salary: €35,000 - 40,000 (35 hrs per week Mon – Fri)

Supervision: External supervision is provided for this post.

Main Tasks of Job:

  1. To work as part of an interdisciplinary team to offer support to victims of domestic abuse who are residing in the South Donegal area.
  2. To work closely with our Community Engagement / Accommodation Support / Addiction worker and Helpline team
  3. To liaise with other agencies where required including Tusla Social Work Child Protection, HSE adult social work and family support workers.
  4. To offer court accompaniment to victims of domestic abuse in any of the South Donegal courts areas Donegal, Ballyshannon, Glenties and Dungloe.
  5. To write reports and document the progress of the work for both funders and the organisation as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • A relevant Third Level Degree level 8 in a social science related field.
  • A history of working with clients experiencing domestic abuse and familiarity with advocacy of clients.
  • A background / experience working with adults / children who have been through trauma / experienced domestic abuse.
  • An awareness of addiction / mental health challenges / homelessness
  • A good understanding of Child Protection referral criteria and experience of working within the Child Protection system.
  • Competency in IT Skills
  • Full clean driving licence required
