Time Commitment: Quarterly sessions (4 times per year)
Reporting to: Head of Support

Role Overview

Fighting Blindness is seeking a compassionate and experienced Group Supervisor to provide quarterly supervision to our dedicated network of peer support facilitators. Facilitators play a vital role in leading peer-led support groups for individuals living with sight loss across Ireland. Group Supervisors foster a reflective, supportive environment to help facilitators sustain resilience, navigate challenges, and maintain best practice in a peer-led model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate structured remote group supervision sessions on a quarterly basis.
  • Create a safe, confidential space for facilitators to reflect on their experiences, group dynamics, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support facilitators in managing boundaries, maintaining group cohesion, and prioritising self-care.
  • Identify emerging support needs or training gaps and communicate these with the programme team.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and peer support across the programme.
  • Demonstrate awareness of adult safeguarding responsibilities and take appropriate action when concerns arise.

Essential Criteria:

  • Professional qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or a related field.
  • Accreditation as a supervisor, or demonstrable equivalent experience in group supervision.
  • Experience working with peer-led or community-based support models.
  • Strong understanding of group processes, boundaries, and reflective practice.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Awareness of the lived experience and challenges of individuals with sight loss or other disabilities.
  • Experience supporting volunteers or non-clinical facilitators.
