Rape Crisis Counsellor – 3 days per week

Main Duties of the Role:

  • To provide one to one counselling and support sessions to clients of the service.
  • To work with clients who have recently experienced sexual violence with a view to offering immediate support over a short period, in advance of joining the waiting list for more ongoing support, as required
  • To work with clients on an ongoing basis, drawing from the waiting list
  • To keep notes and data in line with RCMW policy and GDPR standards
  • To maintain and update all client records on the RCNI database
  • To work as part of a whole team approach
  • To liaise closely with the Case Manager with regard to client management
  • To maintain levels of supervision in line with best practice and RCMW policy.
  • To commit to ongoing training and development in line with RCMW policy.
  • To participate in RCMW public awareness campaigns, as appropriate.
  • To respond to other duties as required

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Qualified Counsellor, registered with IACP/IAHIP/BACP - Essential
  • 3 years’ experience of working with survivors of sexual violence - Essential
  • Knowledge of the wider DSGBV sector - Desirable
  • Have completed Rape Crisis specialised training (e.g. RCNI training or equivalent) - Desirable
  • Knowledge of referral pathways - Desirable
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team - Essential
  • Ability to keep records and utilise information database - Essential

Terms & Conditions:

  • This is a three day a week (21 hrs) post with an initial one-year contract
  • Annual leave for this post will be 17.5 days per annum
  • Gross salary for this post is €27,403 per annum
  • Organisational pension of up to 5%
