We are looking for a part-time Community Mother Support Worker (20 hours per week) in the South Tipperary Area.
The Programme is a community-based home visiting service aimed at parents with children 0-5 years.

Job Description: Community Mother/Community Families Support Worker
(Fixed Term Contract)
Clonmel Community Parent Support Programme Clg Board of Management are seeking a Support Worker (Part-time) to support the delivery of our Home Visiting Programme in South Tipperary. The Programme is a community-based home visiting service aimed to provide support and information to parents of children 0-5 years.
Key Areas of Work
- Provide Home Visiting services to families.
- Provide information and support (breastfeeding information, health eating, child development, encouraging play etc)
- Signposting and/or referral to relevant supports and services.
- Engage in community wrap-around groups, including Mother and Baby, Parent and Toddler groups.
- Maintain records of home visits and other administrative activities supporting the work of the programme.
- Being vigilant in monitoring and responding to incidents in line with Children First and National Child Protection Guidelines.
- Participate in regular team meetings as required.
- Participate in regular supervision including reflective practice.
- Attend all training relevant to professional development.
- Any other duties that the Programme Manager may deem necessary.
Person Specification
- A minimum 1 - 2 years experience working in the home visiting sector and/or a similar role is desireable.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child development, best parent practices, healthy family structures, healthy eating, child protection and reporting, local community supports to families.
- Ideally hold a QQI Level 5 in childcare/social care or relevant qualification.
- Compassionate about family support and seeing the parent as the expert of their children.
- Ability to form caring, non-judgemental relationships with families.
- Ability to model positive parent strategies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to inter-agency working.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Be highly motivated, a self-starter, with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to organise and schedule visits.
- Good IT skills.
- A full clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.
Terms of Appointment
- The appointment will be a fixed term contract for one year, including an initial probationary period of six months.
- Hours of work: 20 hours per week
- The place of work will be the Programme office with home visits to participating family homes.
- Reporting to the Programme Manager
- Salary commensurate with experience.
