Drogheda Youth Development: ESLO Local Training Initiative Tutors

The Education Skills Learning Opportunities (ESLO) programme is a Local Training Initiative designed to empower young people aged 16 to 25 by offering them the chance to return to education and enhance their skills across various fields. Through personalised support, learners are guided to identify their unique goals and are provided with the tools they need to succeed—whether by securing employment or pursuing further education upon completion of the programme.

ESLO is funded by Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) and delivered by Drogheda Youth Development CLG (Boomerang Youth Service & Cafe) in a holistic, youth centred and supportive environment.

Part-time tutors are essential to the successful delivery of our programme. We are seeking tutors who are adaptable, versatile, and able to engage effectively with young learners. Key qualities include the ability to build positive relationships, support learner development, and foster an environment that encourages achievement and growth.

Nature of the Tutor Post

  • Work Experience

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • A Training or Teaching qualification in education with teaching or training experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Professional manner.
  • The role requires high levels of efficiency, organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to motivate and manage individuals and groups.
  • Ability to give supportive help to individuals and groups and know when to fade support to encourage independent learning skills.
  • Ability to lead and deliver the curriculum, have excellent delivery and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess learner’s progress in training and to give constructive feedback.
  • Ability to meet key performance indicators in relation to certification.

Location: First floor, Boomerang Youth Service and Cafe, 62 Fair St, Drogheda, Co. Louth

Job Type: Three to Six hours per week subject to module requirements.
