Play Therapist (Sessional)

Hope Cancer Support Centre CLG provides a wide range of supports to people affected by cancer in County Wexford

We are now seeking applications for a sessional Play Therapist (based on a contract for service) to provide therapeutic support primarily to children aged 4-12 years old affected by a parent/family member/ carer with a cancer diagnosis in County Wexford.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• A recognised qualification in Play Therapy NQF Level 9 or qualified therapist with specialism in play therapy.
• For qualified therapists specialising in play therapy, the specific training course (postgraduate level core training) must extend over a minimum of 2 years, preceded by a relevant mental health training, e.g., psychotherapy, clinical or counselling psychology, psychiatry, or counselling.
• Accredited and registered with an appropriate professional body (e.g., IAPTP, PTIRL).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience (post accreditation) working as a Play Therapist.
• Must be attending regular Supervision with a suitably qualified and accredited supervisor

Desirable

• Training in using a CRM system e.g. Salesforce, to compete and maintain client records.
• Additional training in providing therapeutic support in an oncology or cancer care setting.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Providing individual sessions to children referred to the service.
• Carry out initial assessments to ensure suitability to service.
• Work collaboratively with the child/young person and family to carefully consider the needs of the child and develop specific therapeutic plans.
• Work in partnership with the Client Services Manager & assigned Client Services Coordinator to ensure efficient and timely delivery of the play therapy service.
• Record all client sessions and interactions, confidentially, accurately and in a timely manner using our CRM system.
• Fulfil all obligations under the Children’s First Act 2015 and Hope Cancer Support Centre CLG’s Child Protection Policy.
• Work in line with all Policies and Procedures of the Hope Cancer Support Centre CLG.
• Comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts and General Data Protection (GDPR)

Reporting arrangement: Reports to the Client Services Manager of Hope Cancer Support Centre CLG.
