Reporting Relationship

The Community Centre supervisor will report directly to the Community Centre Manager, Staff Liaison Officer, a member of the KYCC Board of Directors and Trustees. The Manager will also report to the Board of Directors at monthly Board meetings.

Purpose of the Post

The Community Centre Supervisor is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation and management of the KYCC Centre on behalf of South Dublin County Council (SDCC), under the direction of the Board of Management Committee and Trustees. The Supervisor ensures that all allocated resources are used effectively to deliver high-quality services to the public while complying with health & safety regulations and maintaining the building in good condition. The Community Centre Supervisor will manage bookings, supervise staff and volunteers, liaise with community groups and service users, and ensure the building is safe, welcoming, and well-maintained.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Supervise daily centre operations and ensure adherence to centre policies and procedures.
  • Manage room bookings, weekly schedules, and centre programmes & events.
  • Act as keyholder: open/lock the facility, ensure security, and report maintenance issues.
  • Implement, review, and develop management policies and procedures in conjunction with KYCC, as required for approval by the Board.
  • Facilitate internal community programmes hosted by the centre when required.
  • Support the Centre Manager in achieving the objectives set in the KYCC Action Plan 2025 – 2028.

Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with local residents, community groups, and stakeholders.
  • Support the planning and delivery of programmes, activities, and services.
  • Promote community participation and ensure the centre is inclusive and accessible.
  • Represent the centre at local meetings and networking events.
  • Engage with key stakeholders such as ETB, Pobal, SDCC, South Dublin County Partnership, Knockmitten United FC and Crosscare.

Staff and Volunteer Supervision

  • Supervise staff, volunteers manage rosters, annual leave, and staff development.
  • Schedule shifts, monitor attendance, and support training and development.
  • Ensure a positive, supportive working environment for all team members.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, incidents, income/expenditure, and attendance, using the centre’s designated booking system.
  • Prepare reports for management and funding bodies as required, including a monthly financial report in advance of Board of Management meetings.
  • Contribute to, in conjunction with the Centre Manager, Management Committee and Trustees, an annual budget and quarterly management accounts for Board approval.
  • Manage grant applications.
  • Assist in budget tracking and petty cash management. This includes managing receipt collection and secure storage of cash and cheques ensuring all retained funds are within the centres’ insurance policy specifications and deposited on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with Treasurer to manage centre finances, purchase orders and online banking.
  • Support the Centre Manager with day to day banking.
  • Market the centre via the centre’s various communication channels. The aim is to increase community engagement and maximise facility usage.
  • Receive and deal with routine correspondence and documents on behalf of Knockmitten Youth and Community Centre.
  • Provide high-quality customer service, welcoming new users and conducting regular customer surveys.
  • Address complaints effectively and implement service improvements.
  • Make recommendations to the Centre Manager for enhancing innovative services.

Health & Safety and Safeguarding

  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety, fire safety, and safeguarding protocols.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and security of the premises at all times.
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain appropriate records.
  • Respond to incidents or emergencies effectively and report as required.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as required to support the development of the Centre.

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the role.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in community work, centre management, or supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing staff or volunteers.
  • Commitment to inclusivity, equality, and community development.
  • Basic IT literacy (Microsoft Office, email, booking systems).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in financial management, marketing or event management.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as required.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile for the benefit of the community.

Terms and Conditions

Status: Permanent 
Salary: €25,000 - €27,000, depending on experience. 
Working Hours: 30 hours per week (Monday - Saturday), with occasional Sunday availability required 
Annual Leave: 23 Days 
Probation Period: Six months 
Location: Knockmitten Youth & Community Centre, Monksfield Lawns, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.
