Project Worker
21 hours per week, September 2025 - August 2026

The School Completion Programme (SCP) is TUSLA Education Support Programme (TESS) that strives to have a significant positive impact on young people's retention in primary and secondary schools. It aims to increase the number of pupils who successfully complete the Senior Cycle, or its equivalent.

This role, which is funded by Genio, is dedicated to fostering inclusion through access and participation of children and their families from the Traveller communities within these settings. The role involves working with Traveller students and other students at risk of early school leaving, ensuring they stay engaged with their education and successfully complete their studies.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Qualification in one of the following: education/teaching, youth/community work, social care/science, or a related discipline.
  • A thorough knowledge of the education system and the factors associated with early school leaving.
  • Experience of working with young people within a supportive environment (both one-to-one and in group settings).
  • Skills and talents that are transferrable to developing programmes that engage students at risk of early school leaving. This could include expertise in art, sports, music, dance, multimedia, therapeutic interventions, etc.
  • Knowledge of manualised/evidence-based programmes used with young people.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organisational, networking, and report writing skills.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • ICT proficiency.

Funding:

The School Completion Programme (SCP) Project Worker supporting the Traveller role is funded by Genio, and this position will be funded through Cork City Council and Sláintecare Healthy Communities.

Remuneration:

  • Based on the CDYSB Post-2011 Youth Work Scale, on a pro-rata basis.

In accordance with The National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016, E-vetting will be a requirement for the successful candidate.
