Position: Child and Family Engagement Worker
Reporting to: Garryowen CDP Manager
Purpose of Position: To coordinate and develop activities and programmes for Children and families in the Garryowen Community
The Ideal candidate for this opportunity will demonstrate:
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise the ParentChild+ programme
- Administer the delivery of Parentchild+ programme home visits, weekly supervision sessions and support Home Visiting staff
- Recruit and select families to participate in the programme
- Introduce families and Home Visitors to each other
- Provide home visits to families on the programme
- Work with the ParentChild+ Manager (National College of Ireland) to implement ParentChild+ quality assurance processes and maintain fidelity to the programme
- Collect and collate home visit data in order to prepare and maintain records, reports and/or test data on the programme and participating children
- Refer families in the area to other relevant supports when needed
- Under the direction of management of Garryowen CDP design and deliver a plan to develop an afterschool programme for 7–10-year-olds in the Garryowen area. Coordinate and support the afterschool programme when developed
- Work in partnership with other key stakeholders in the area to develop activities / events to engage families in the Garryowen Area
- Organise and supervise the weekly Parent & Toddler Group
- Take part in any relevant training and development
- Any other duties as assigned by the Manager of Garryowen CDP
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant Qualification in Childcare/ Youth / Family Support (Minimum Level 7)
- A minimum of 2 years employment experience of working with children and families
- A minimum of 2 years paid experience in a leadership role
- Excellent leadership, administrative, time management and organisational skills
- An energetic, confident and pro-active individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to train, supervise and support staff
- Experience of working with families experiencing disadvantage
- Good computer and database skills
Desirable
- Experience of providing family support
- Experience of working within an afterschool service
- Experience of working in partnership with other stakeholders in the community and voluntary sector
- Experience of sourcing and securing funding
Candidates need to have a full clean driving licence and have access to a car
Employment conditions:
Salary: €40,355-€47,938 All new recruits will begin on point 1 of the scale
Contract: 12 months fixed term (35 hours per week)
Annual Leave: (25 days per annum)
