Limerick Youth Service is now inviting applications for the following position:

Youth & Family Support Worker Part-Time

(3 days per week) (Initially for 1 year)

Funded by TUSLA (Child & Family Agency) the project aims to develop and support initiatives for young people (aged 10 – 18 years) in their local community who are in need of additional interventions and support. The successful candidate will work within an existing team of family support workers. The main focus is on early intervention aiming to promote and protect the health, well-being and rights of all children, young people and their families. This will include individual support, parenting top-up and support, key working, crisis intervention, holiday provision and Meitheal.

Applicants for this post must have:

  • Relevant third level qualification in Youth Work (or related discipline. Candidates with sufficient relevant work experience, 3 years+ may also be considered in lieu of qualification)
  • Proven track record in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative interventions to enhance the resilience of young people and reduce their isolation.
  • Knowledge or experience of case management and key working
  • Experience of needs assessment and using mechanisms to evaluate the outcome of work
  • Previous engagement with a range of statutory and voluntary bodies in enhancing the opportunities for young people
  • Excellent groupwork, facilitation, report writing, communication, and networking skills
  • Access to a car with Full Clean Driving Licence (essential)
