A Youth Service Co-ordinator for the County Longford Youth Service project

(35 hours per week)

The County Longford Youth Service is an initiative being implemented by Longford Community Resources with the overall aim of delivering targeted developmental youth work to young people throughout County Longford. The service focuses on engaging marginalised young people between the ages of 10 – 24 years and seeks to assist these young people in reaching their full potential through a variety of youth work methodologies including breaking down barriers that prevent young people from engaging in opportunities that promote personal and social development.

The Co-ordinator for the County Longford Youth Service project will work 35 hours per week with an initial contract to 31st December 2026, subject to funding. The Co-ordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and day-to-day operation of County Longford Youth Service.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A professionally endorsed youthwork qualification or have a degree level qualification in Youth Work/Youth and Community Work or relevant field.
  • Worked with young people for 3 years full time and have experience of working with young people at risk in a youth work setting in a paid capacity.
  • A strong conviction about, and commitment to, youthwork theory and practice.
  • A commitment to equality and human rights and an understanding of the issues affecting marginalised young people.
  • Experience of planning and delivering creative and innovative youth programmes.
  • Skills, experience, and values requisite for working with young people who present with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent project and staff management skills.
  • Effective organisational, administrative, communication, IT, analytical and research skills.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a can-do attitude.
  • A full clean Driving Licence and access to own transport.

Commencement of employment is subject to successful completion of Garda Vetting. A probationary period will apply. Starting salary €49,007 - € 54,952, dependent on experience and qualification.
