Reporting to: Programme Coordinator

Salary Scale: €34,580- €36, 580 Full Time Per Annum

Overall

The Young Parents Support Programme (YPSP) is a support service for young mothers, young fathers up to the age of 24 and their families from pregnancy until the baby is 2 years of age. It offers support, advocacy and information in all areas of a young parent’s life including health, relationships, parenting, childcare, social welfare entitlements, education, training and anything else about which the mother and father are concerned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1 to 1 and group supports to enhance and empower the well-being of pregnant or parenting young people.
  • Assessing the needs of pregnant and parenting young people to deliver interventions and support to meet the individual needs.
  • Identify education, employment and training needs supporting individual young parents to return to/ begin education/ employment.
  • Liaising, advocating, and lobbying with statutory agencies in relation to the needs of the individual young parents, ensuring complete wraparound support.
  • Maintaining a high standard of accurate and confidential records.
  • Managing budgets, financial returns, and relevant funding opportunities alongside the Programme Coordinator.
  • Collating metrics, authored reports, and financial reports.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and policies relating to children and young people.
  • Experience of planning, implementing, and reviewing programmes with young people and or families.
  • Strong IT and social media skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and CRM databases, ie- Salesforce.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with the Young Parent Support Programme national coordinator and YPSP Programmes nationally .

Educational Qualifications

A third level qualification in a relevant discipline is required (Social Care, Social Science, Social Work, Youth Work, Community Work, Psychology, Early Years, etc.).

Experience

  • Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience post qualification, which demonstrates an ability to manage and work with young people and their families.

  • Ability to work alone and also as a team member.
  • Empathy, reliability, and a positive attitude towards work is essential.
  • Facilitation skills
  • Report drafting and writing skills
  • Full, unendorsed driver’s license and use of own car
