Frontline Bikes: Bicycle Mechanic & Bicycle Training Officer
Job Title: Bicycle Mechanic
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (includes regular weekend hours).
Salary: Dependent on experience
Reports to: Frontline Bikes Operation Manager
Frontline Bikes is a social enterprise bike shop and training centre based in Dublin, established by Frontline Make Change in 2020.
Frontline Bikes provides people with a background of addiction, long-term unemployment, or a criminal record with a pathway to recovery and employment, through our training programme in bike mechanics, using donated bikes. The bikes are upcycled and refurbished in our training centre in Bluebell, Dublin 12 by our team of mechanics and trainees and sold in our bike shop in Inchicore, Dublin 8, and online.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Bicycle Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience servicing all types of bicycles and a genuine love for cycling culture. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring customer bikes are road-ready and safe.
This role will be based in our training centre in Bluebell, Dublin 12, and retail unit in Inchicore, Dublin 8.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair various bicycle components (e.g. brakes, gears, tires, suspension systems)
- Assemble new bicycles and ensure proper setup
- Provide accurate repair estimates and communicate clearly with customers
- Update POS system accurately
- Perform routine maintenance and tune-ups
- Install upgrades and accessories (racks, lights, etc.)
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace
- Test ride bicycles to ensure quality and safety standards
- Inventory and stock management
Qualifications
- Full driving licence an advantage
- Proven experience in bicycle repair and maintenance
- Familiarity with a wide range of bicycle models and technologies
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Certification from a bicycle mechanic training program (a plus)

- Responsible for mentoring/training trainee mechanics in line with City & Guilds syllabus

- QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer

- Strong communication and customer service abilities
