The Learning Hub

The Learning Hub works in partnership with parents, education providers, statutory agencies and the wider Limerick community to provide a safe, welcoming and inspiring learning environment where young people can reach their true potential.

The Art Hub

The Art Hub is the first initiative of its kind in Limerick City. The Art Hub primarily works with primary school children, their teachers and parents to deliver dynamic and innovative art education programmes.

The role:

The Art Hub Coordinator will develop artistic education programmes for primary and secondary school children. Initially starting on 15 hours a week, the contract is for one year including a probationary period of 6 months. There is also potential for the weekly hours of the position to be increased after the probationary period and, funding permitting, the position could extend beyond one year.

Main duties:

  • Organizing and teaching outreach Art classes for children (8–13 years old) from local schools at the Hub and on location in schools and around the city
  • Developing curriculum material and resource design for Art programs within budget
  • Reporting to manager on meeting strategies
  • Collaborating closely with other Hub Coordinators STEM, Health, Music, Creative After Care etc.) to deliver dynamic and integrated programmes
  • Maintaining the Art Hub and classroom
  • Developing and run Art based programmes as part of overall holiday camp schedule
  • Collaborating with local schools to create in-school Art-based programmes
  • Applying for Arts-based grants to support and, where possible, grow the Art Hub Coordinator position

Specific requirements:

  • Candidates must possess a relevant 3rd Level Qualification in Art.
  • Candidates must have experience working with children and teaching classes.
  • Demonstrable interest in diverse subjects.

Desirable knowledge and skills

  • Excellent administration and organizational skills.
  • Computer literate able to use MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and other graphic design software.
  • Interest in photography and film-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Comfort with teaching and managing a classroom.
  • Creative and innovative teaching approach including engaging with students online.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of working with children.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize work, plan workload and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work within budget constraints.
  • Commitment to education and interested in the work that the Learning hub does in the community.
  • General all-round ability to collaborate with other areas of education.
  • Experience in writing funding application and fund-raising

The position is based at the Learning Hub in Kileely, Limerick.
