Parents First: Home Visitor / Support Worker
Parents First (Laois, Offaly) CLG is seeking a full-time Home Visitor / Support Worker (consideration will be given to 2 half-time posts) to deliver our Community Families programme in Co Laois.
Community Families is an Irish-developed community-based early years’ home visiting programme. It puts parents first, empowering them through trusted relationships with a home visitor. It provides information and support, and builds friendships and connectivity in local communities.
Parents First is a voluntary organisation committed to the welfare of families with young children, with a track record in providing support for families in Laois and Offaly.
Home Visitor/Support Worker
Working with parents from pregnancy until their youngest child is 3 years old, Home Visitors address a breadth of areas tailored to meet each parent’s unique needs. The aim is to ensure that all parents receive the support, information, and advice they need to enable their children, themselves, and their families to thrive and have support to access wider services when necessary. It is delivered by trained and experienced Home Visitors working within a team and supported by an assistant coordinator and manager.
The successful candidate will have:
- A qualification at QQI Level 6 in an aligned area of work, e.g., Social Care or Early Childhood Education and Care
- 2 years’ experience of working with or providing services to children and families or a similar type of role
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- A capacity to self-motivate and work independently and in collaboration with the team and partner agencies
- Knowledge and/or experience of one or more of the following areas – early childhood development, parent-infant relationships, family and parenting support and developing positive working relationships
- Experience of working with families with additional needs, disadvantage or social and rural isolation, with a focus on best outcomes for children, families, and their communities
- A commitment to ongoing learning, training, and professional development, including reflective practice
- An ability to establish trusting relationships underpinned by attributes such as openness, empathy, and being non-judgmental, along with cultural sensitivity, appreciating individual and family diversity
- An ability to deliver the role in line with the shared values, principles, and core standards of the programme
- A full clean driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
- Good IT skills with experience using MS365, experience using a CRM is desirable but not essential, e.g. Salesforce
