Position: Social Care Worker

Hours: 10 hours per week (including travel time)

Location: Laois Area

Case Ratio: 1:1 Support

1 position available

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and reliable Social Care Worker to provide essential support to one adult who presents with mental health difficulties, high anxiety levels and low self-esteem. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with carers and a multidisciplinary team to implement strategies that promote his independence and sense of self out in the community, independence skills, education opportunities and recreational activities. This is a support role and does not require the provision of personal care.

Key Details:

  • Commitment: Applicants must be available to commit fully to the specific working hours required by the case.
  • Contract: Successful applicants will have a fixed term contract linked directly to funding provided for the case by HSE.

Please note, once an employee of EPlus the successful applicant can avail of other EPlus work opportunities outside of the fixed hours required by this contract.

Key Competencies Required:

  • Understanding of Complex Needs: Ability to recognise and respond to the unique challenges faced by adult, demonstrating patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Independent living Skills: Enhancing the adult’s ability to live a meaningful and satisfying life by encouraging independent functioning and living and supporting adult in his personal development and self-care.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience in working effectively within a multidisciplinary team, showing strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage collaboratively with various professionals.
  • Education and Employment: Being able to identify and to encourage engagement within training courses or vocational opportunities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective interaction with adult, foster carers, and the professional team.
  • Planning and Organisational Skills: Ability to organise and plan activities and schedules that meet the developmental needs of the adult. Identifying interests and goal setting.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a relevant degree or qualification in Social Care and current registration with CORU or actively pursuing registration.
  • Experience working with adults with complex needs, particularly those with a mental health difficulty.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in disability services and therapeutic interventions.
